With an interest in the aerospace industry, Krishna C.V. Kumar, MS, PE found his niche within engineering consulting in relation to building systems, air conditioning, plumbing and fire protection. At the start of his journey, he earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Mysore in India in 1970, followed by a master’s degree in mechanical engineering from Brigham Young University in Utah in 1972. Today, Mr. Kumar is licensed as a professional engineer in Washington, Oregon, California and Nevada.
In the 1980s, Mr. Kumar served as an engineering consultant for the University of New Mexico for one year, as well as for Intel. Since 2006, he has excelled as the owner of KK Engg. LLC, where he works as a mechanical engineering consultant and consults with architects and construction professionals. To remain abreast of changes and advancements his industry, Mr. Kumar is a life member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineering International (ASME).
Reflecting upon his career thus far, Mr. Kumar is incredibly proud of a geothermal A/C project design that he created for a mansion on Nantucket Island, Massachusetts in 2007 and 2008. Featured in the Wall Street Journal and Forbes Magazine, he has notably earned congressional recognition from two congressmen and the state of California in 2000 for his work in the community. Mr. Kumar attributes his success to his thorough enjoyment of his work.
Mr. Kumar’s advice to someone entering the field of engineering is to be well-versed in the fundamentals of science and mathematics. He adds, handle things from a parliamentary standpoint and apply it to individual practices. In the coming years, Mr. Kumar looks forward to the continued growth and success of his skills, as well as his company.
